GAIN/Gator/Claria drive-by-downloads

    hi,

    i'm working on a project on spyware/adware drive-by-downloads. at the moment, i'm trying to identify websites that push these types of downloads (specifically for Gain Publishing/Claria/Gator). has anyone been a victim of any of their downloads?

    Hello and welcome to the forum.
    Yes, Panda online scanner: accept the GAIN/Gator from the advertisements or the databases update doesn't work.
    No reactions from their support at all.
    This was many months ago, might have changed in the meantime.
    The spyware/adware scanners had it out immediately after the occasion.

    I've moved this from hijack cleaning as it is more suited to thois forum

    we try to keep hijack cleanin g forum solely for hijacked computers not general discussions

    thanks for the replies. watch out for placeboworld.com... some of claria's drive by applications are waiting to be downloaded. has anyone seen other sites like these? i'm trying to compile a list of 'tainted' sites.

    yes ive been a victim of gator in the past and also bonzi buddy--it took forever to get rid of gator--hope i never get it again now i am alot more careful and have alot of anti spyware scanners and dont download anything without reading the fine print
