Good Evening ! Just installed G-Data 2011 Anti-Virus...and it announced an updated Product Version was available...so I installed the update. The scanning and set-up process is much quicker...the newest version is 21.1.2.2 and was introduced on 15th December 2010. The complete system scan which incorporates Digital Fingerprinting was a super quick eighteen and a half minutes. The previous version took a shade past an hour too perform it's scan. It used to be in the past North American users were left waiting a year or two before receiving product updates. This might have something to do with G-Data's new North American Head Office in Durham Raleigh,North Carolina.Positive news for G-Data users. Sincerely...Securon

Good Morning ! The useage seems to be very reasonable not a Ram hog. Unlike past versions where you needed at least 3gb of ram dependent on system and app useage 1gb might very well be enough. So far so good. Now I'm using the Anti-Virus,the security suite might be more memory intensive. Sincerely...Securon

G-Data is quite greedy of CPU & I/O. With respect to a computer's responsiveness, CPU & I/O usage often have greater impact than does RAM usage.

Good Evening ! The new website is outstanding in it's Clarity and Presentation...uncluttered with crisp graphics and the layout of product Features and Benefits is sequential and self explanatory. Sometimes less is more. In the past I voiced my concern with G-Data's commitment...this Website has arrived to the Big Leagues...while addressing past concerns. Excellent Presentation. Sincerely...Securon

I really want to try it again but it is hard to change from something that is working. I my have to give the new version a go though. Hopefully customer service is as good as the website looks. Time will tell when the first person has an issue.

This looks like a nice program. I wonder if it would get a long with Private Firewall?

Is this program better than Kaspersky?

Good Evening ! Rilla927 I've used G-Data Anti-Virus 2011 with Private Firewall no problems experienced with compatability. I can't comment in reference to Kaspersky...in my opinion they're both excellent products. Sincerely...Securon

I'm curious about G-Data myself. I have used KIS 2011 and didn't find it to be a hog on the system...just wonder if G-Data is about the same.

Good to hear. Did you use the 64bit? I was trying to see if there was a 64bit version at the site.

Yes, it was on a 64bit system, the G-Data installer covers 32 and 64bit setups.

people really can't expect much from performance in any AV that make use of more than 1 engine.

I agree...worst I noticed was a couple of seconds added to startup time, nothing that most of us would call excessive.

Is there a removal tool for this program?
