I stopped using this program by Javacool last year because of the lack of updates and knowing that this utility hasn't been updated since 2004.

So question is: What's going to happen to it? Is it going to be updated or not?

I think it's a shame leaving this nice little program like that, basically orphaned.

    Any ideas,

    Cheers.

It's still useful in some cases. Personally I don't see any need to remove it, but ultimately in depends on your own type of security configuration.

    Like the product's documentation states:
SpywareGuard has heuristics and does not need to be updated so often.

In fact, I'm wondering to myself how powerful its heuristics are that it seems to have become a set-it-and-forget-it piece of security software.

hi everyone,to the question "does it work" since installing SG two weeks ago my warning have been reduced to almost nil,i run panda platinum 2006 and spybot as a back up checker and spy bot gets nothing.
i down loaded mine from major geeks and as i put used systems together and give them to charity or people who cant afford to buy them,it gives me the opportunity to evaluate free anti-nasty stuff i will be putting SG on every machine.happy days:thumb:

The heuristics thing has been their excuse for coming on 3 years now. The big obvious thing is that IT USED TO BE UPDATED, even with the heuristics. So obviously it's abandoned or something.

As far as I'm concerned... It has no future.

    Hi,

There has been a new version of SpywareGuard in the works for a while, but it has basically required a complete re-write. With Vista approaching, a delay was necessitated to determine the best method of addressing current and future spyware / hijacker related issues (especially with Vista compatibility in mind).

I don't have any estimate on when it'll be available, but it is one of the projects I'm working on. :)

    Best regards,

    -Javacool
