    I am using TI9 2259

I would have thought that a full image backup would be faster with the rescue CD. Linux has so much less overhead than WinXP-pro sp2. However, several times now I have tried both methods and XP is VERY fast...19GB in about 30 minutes vs. 1 1/2 hours booting from CD. Anyone know why this is, and if this is normal?

    TIA,
    Dave

You didn't say where you are creating the backup image. With USB 2 external hard drives, sometimes the Windows drivers are much better than the Linux ones. In any event, the speed difference is usually due to a difference in the device drivers for the backkup device.

Well, at least the time is only three times as long. In some unfortunate cases, the Linux drivers work at USB 1.1 speed which is a lot slower. Watch for new releases and with luck the drivers will be updated and work faster.
