I was "stung" by this--one small change in that I had to pay some additional tax over last year. Suddenly my return changed from "free" to "you need to get our premium version for extra assistance." I could not proceed even though the return was pretty much compete and had to start from scratch with another tax preparation software. Thanks for posting this news, it's a welcome thing. Never again.
I'm sorry to hear that you were victimized by this scheme, @plat1098. Well now Intuit will pay a price for misleading clients.
