The German manufactory AVM makes modems (routers). They are used in Germany, the Netherlands, and other European countries. We had threads about it in the past. It seems that there is a problem with the domain name it uses: fritz.box I don't have too much info at the moment. Discussion in Dutch at security.nl https://www.security.nl/posting/833...ne gehaald na klacht van netwerkfabrikant AVM There was a previous (some two months ago) discussion at Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/fritzbox/c...ssue_related_to_dns_when_accessing/?rdt=46739 As far as I understand it now: AVM forgot to register (buy) the domain fritz.box It seems that AVM requested ICANN/IANA to take that domain off-line. If you have more info, let us know. Maybe the German site Heise has more info.
New article (in Dutch) at security.nl 12 Mar 2024 https://www.security.nl/posting/833548/AVM koopt door modems gebruikte domeinnaam Fritz_box They write that AVM told them that AVM is busy to buy the domain name Fritz.box They also write about where this all (probably) started. It is here: the start of the .box domain name in January 2024 See: Introducing .Box – A New Era in Domain Names Powered by 3DNS Published January 19, 2024 https://3dns.box/blog/posts/introducing-box-tld/
AVM: External access possible through MyFritz service What's happening right now: Owner of a FRITZ! Box, who use the MyFritz service including remote access, are currently victims of an external access attempt. Attackers are currently trying to log in to the user interface of your box. The attack always takes place from the same IP address. In addition, e-mail addresses or real names also appear. The infamous brute force method is used to query a number of usernames and passwords, with the hope that the correct log-in data will be used at some point.
