Cool beans - Thanks mrclarke/ zapjb.
It was definitely real, free True Image 7 key!
They really push you to upgrade to 9.1, thus
paying $30 instead of $50 - still a good deal.

But check under My Account > Registered Products.
Screen The latest version 7.0 should be there.

It was real but I believe they ended it early because it got posted on quite a few forums. I happened to register before they ended it.

The problem with downloading was the link they provided for the download in the email I got never worked [and it wasn't an Acronis server]. However, when you register with Acronis and then access your information and check your registered products there will be links to download the most updated version of v7 and also the original v7 download. They are exactly the same, I believe. And, of course, once you have the v7 registration you can upgrade to v9 Home for like $24.95 or $29.95.

I was able to download it from my personal account, but don't know what to do with it. I might give it to my brother as a cheap Christmas gift. :)

Well, it's not real to me yet, since the trial version won't register itself on my PC. I registered at the Acronis site, and the registration key or any documentaton for any trial version is not there. I thought the only trial load restriction was the 15 day trail. That's how they marketed it. Why don't they provide separate documentation for the Trial versions?

I'm in the same boat:cautious: I'm in as administrator, nothing running in the background, and the EXE file was not set as read only. Even tried the True Image trial, same results. Waste of time.

Does Acronis really want people to evaluate their products?

you cant register the trial version. you need to download a different installer which asks for a serial on installation. theres no way to enter a serial into the trial version.

Thanks KFK. That's what makes the "registion error" stop and freeze after entering their required nameplate that much more baffling. I will try to find a different trial installer compatible with my OS on their site.
