The German 'Chip' is giving away free F-Secure Anti-Virus 2006 licenses.

You get the licens here for free: http://www.f-secure.de/chip

It's in German but i think it is easy to understand, but here a translation German - English

Ihre E-Mail Adresse - Your email Adress
Anrede: Herr - Mr.; Frau - Mrs.
    Ihr Vorname - First Name
    Ihr Nachname - Last name

Than klick on 'Daten senden' and the licens will be send to your e-mail.

Thanks. From what I gather the license is good for the AV till 07/15/07. It says something about upgrading to the internet security product. Is that free also? Babelfish didn't help with this.

I can't imagine it'd be limited to the German version.

Thank you! I just got the email with the license. You realize that Scott Finnie has just declared F-Secure his number 1 choice for an AV? So this license is very nice to have. :) (I'm assuming F-Secure no longer installs a screensaver that kills your own like they did several years ago. I haven't tried F-Secure since that bad experience. Scott has only praise for it so I'm sure there is nothing like what I got back then).

Yeah...I want to know too. All I see is a trial version.

Will this AV eat too many resources to use on 98SE? I need an AV for my old 98SE machine.

    Stupid question:

Is it possible to configure F-Secure 100% fully on-demand ONLY. No residents, nothing in startup, no background processes and no ADS tagging?

Just On-demand scanning without bogging down the system at all?

can anyone help me with a few things,
a.i have noticed that f-secure keeps checking for updates or something even after i have dis-abled auto-updates.
b.i tried to install ZApro, but the setup warns me of a possible conflict...so can you advise me on a firewall which works w/o hassle?

And above all thanks a ton to tommy and chip people for this stupendous offer!

I am not sure that CHIP magazine's user licence code valid for english 1 month trial F-Secure AV.
You should buy a german CHIP magazine with a CD and F-Secure setup.exe must be in it.

Has anybody tried user licence code with 1 month trial F-Secure?

*F-Secure use Lavasoft Ad-Aware engine as i know.

The German Chip f-securecode works fine on an international trial downloaded from download.com.

i think the license will work with the 1month free trial as well.i have also downloaded the package from download.com and it worked just fine...
The 60mb package is basically the full security suite.Depending on the type of license it becomes an AV or IS.

The licence code worked and validated till 15.07.2007 with a month trial english setup.exe but there was no custom setup choice and it automatically installed itself.

Big program to get it installed and updating took a while, but once configured properly........flys like a butterfly! Great scanner and nice licence for a year!

    Thanks for the tip.
