    About the FW: You can decide yourself what to install, only AV, only FW or both. Besides the program plays well with other AV as a backup scanner if you disable the resident protection from the options and remove the startup entries.

    Only one bad thing for users on a modem line: updates (almost daily ones...) seem to be "full" sig updates every time, so no small incremental ones.

    Overall...good idea to use, at least as a backup...

    Does anybody know which of the business product engines (VET/Inoculate) VB tests, so that we could evaluate the strength of the VET engine used in ezArmor?

    To Karl_Menshy from Firefighter!

    If u are using winXP, look at this link about VB 6-2003.

    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=9829;start=60

    But the both are very good scanners as VB "in the Wild" tests.

    hmmm i was a bit offline .. i had to go to sleep ;) had been awake for long...
    this forum is gaining speed man :p
    about the review in pcflank Ez and ZA 3 had same points "5" and ya i know already Ez is nothing but ZA 3.7 one thing i shoud say here to chuck... never trust anything or anyone but a good antitrojan in your computer in case of trojans... i think its more than a good idea to keep an antitrojan in computer... (i have three ;) ) i had ZA pro with some extra features than ZA 3.7 and so to speak Ez(had cookies control and Ad blocker) its nice if you can configure
    ZoneAlarm Pro, can do much better if properly configured. So users of ZoneAlarm Pro/Plus should enable the “High” level of control to pass more tests.
    i have kerio2X .. and i am happy with it... cause you can make your own rules (i am helped by Blitz, firewall moderator ) to disallow any outsiders.. and as i said i got it from many.. i cease to run more than one firewall in my computer...

    Hmm...I was suspecting that the VET engine was the worse part of the professional bundle...

    Vet is not too shabby with 19 VB 100 awards
    InoculateIT has only 15.
    Vet is not so well known in the northern hemisphere as it is Australian . http://www.vet.com.au/

    To everyone from Firefighter!

    Hi everyone! Does somebody know what REAL add value does the latest ZA Pro have that EZ Firewall hasn't in security issues?

    PS. I am using now eXtendia AVK Pro as my resident av and eTrust EZ av (VET) as my backup and my firewall is eTrust EZ firewall, everything is going well!

    overall, I'm pretty happy with EZArmor, although I'm not a huge fan of the EZ firewall GUI (ZoneAlarm), as well as the apparent lack of control the user has over it. It's passed every test I've thrown at it, though, so I probably shouldn't complain too much. I'll stick with the suite for a while until I get the crazed urge to try the next thing that comes along.

    I'm sure somebody with more expertise than me will post the pictures. EZ firewall and ZA are virtually identical, so if you've used ZoneAlarm, you'll know what EZ looks like, except for the color and name.

    To everyone from Firefighter!

    Although I am totally "moron" to adjust firewalls, the tests I made against EZ firewall were almost excellent from the EZ's viewpoint.

    http://perso.wanadoo.fr/jugesoftware/firewallleaktester/eng/pageweb/test.html

    My eTrust EZ firewall Leak test results in WinXP Home:

    Leak Test 1.2 passed
    TooLeaky failed
    Firehole test interrupted
    Yalta passed
    PC-audit failed
    AWFT 5/10
    Thermit failed
    Copycat passed
    WallBreaker 0/2

    Total: 9/19

    Compare that to Norton's 4/19 and ZA Pro 4, 7/19!

    Not everyone can or desires to set there own rules . And one mistake and you could be custard. I think that EZ offers a very good set up that makes for an excellent firewall with email /add blocking/ cookie control/ mobile code/. etc. Combined with the e trust anti virus its an excellent free security package

    I have used ez trust av and firewall for a few days now and all I can say about it is I LIKE IT. :D The av seems to work well low impact on system, firewall is fairly easy to configure and the sites where I have tested it it has done very well. I believe it is a keeper.

    To everyone from Firefighter!

    Hi everyone! It took a plenty of time after I was able to install free EZ firewall without VET antivirus. Now I am personally using the free eTrust v7.0.142 AV (Inoculate engine) as my resident AV plus TrojanHunter 3.7 and free eTrust EZ Firewall together and when my kids are using my PC, I'm gonna replace my resident AV to eXtendia AVK Pro!

    Good hunting to everyone!

    PS. The Firewall is damn good!

    To Minacross from Firefighter!

    I have the eTrust Promo version too, but I upgraded that to version 7.0.142.

    I downloaded that EZ Firewall from site,

    http://www.antivirus-online.de/german/countfire.php3?a=1015

    without any questions, so my privacy was more secure.

    After downloading I just registered my EZ firewall with my reg key I have got from that free eTrust EZ Armor option.

    I'm using that CA Inoculate engine only because that is so good "in the Zoo" scanner comparing the VET results (very poor against polymorphic viruses) and the only misses CA Inoculate have got in gaining VB 100% Awards are basicly because of some few false alarms in their tests! CA Inoculate is about on the same level in the VB "in the Zoo" tests as Kaspersky when CA VET is on the same level as AVG!

    From SPC to Firefighter ,
    hi , I am unsure about your statistics regarding Vet in comparing it to InoculateIT and AVG , and have only been able to find the following ?

    From VB 100 awards in August

    VET
    * ItW File - 100%
    * ItW File (o/a) - 100%
    * Standard - 99.90%
    * Macro - 99.82%
    * Macro (o/a) - 99.82%
    * Polymorphic - 98.50%

    Inocul;ateIT
    * ItW File - 100%
    * ItW File (o/a) - 100%
    * Standard - 99.82%
    * Macro - 99.90%
    * Macro (o/a) - 99.90%
    * Polymorphic - 99.89%

    Not a lot of diffirence between them are there?

    Or have you found some testings or stats from the recent November VB 100 awards ?

    Also Vet attained 19 VB 100%awards http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?vet.xml

    InoculateIT attained 15 100% awards
    http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?etrust.xm

    AVG attained 3 100% awards
    http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archives/products.xml?avg.xml

    just a thought

    I totally agree with you FF that EZ Firewall is one cool Firewall. I run it with my e Trust promo v7 alternating between Inoculate and Vet for my real time monitor and local scanner.

    To Solarpowered Candle from Firefighter!

    Just look at this link.

    http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=9829;start=60

    It is VB WinXP June 2003.

    August 2003 VB CA Inoculate missed totally 6 samples when CA VET missed totally 451 samples in the same On-Demand test!

    If u are looking other independent tests than VB, the situation is somewhat the same.
