Can you guys please recommend some good anti-spyware/malware programs that are both free and light (in terms of memory usage)? Thanks!

    I'm assuming you want a real-time monitor?
If so, the two choices for free are:
Spyware Terminator which has a scanner and rtm.
There is also Win Patrol, which is a monitor.

Yeah I think it would be best to have something that will prevent spyware from getting on my machine in the first place. But something that can also do on-demand scans would be nice.

I will look into the suggestions that have been posted, thanks!

Surely Windows Defender would make a good choice?

Windows Defender? I wouldn't touch it with someone else's bargepole, let alone my own. Sorry, but it's crap.

Windows Defender protects you only against beta-malwares.

    Oh great :D

    So...assuming my other defences are:

    Comodo Personal Firewall
    Antivir Personal Edition

edit - OK so I took another look at the topic and decided my question was already answered. Spyware Terminator ahoy!

2nd edit - would taking a-squared free in addition be overkill?

I would recommend SuperAntiSpyware and Ewido Antimalware because they were able to detect a trojan program on my system and you can use the free versions for scanning your system. SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor tend to be rated at the top of most reviews, but they are not free.
