How is their detection rate compared to NIS & KIS?

As good or better. They use the BitDefender engine as their main engine, and supplement it with several more.

The latest version is supposed to run light, as well. However, FIS still runs like a dozen processes, and that is something I personally am kind of allergic to, light or not.

Nice offer, and nice to see these security companies offering them, good way to create some good will. A buddy of mine is trialing NIS, which he doesn't care for, so this might interest him. Do they give you a key, or just a time limited trial version?

I got two through different emails. I wonder if they'll let you use the second one after the 6 months.

If I understood their mail right, all the free licenses they are giving away now expire on 15 of October this year. So the counter is already running.

What about the 4 month Whole Dynamic Test? Norton had the LEAST compromises at the end of the tests. This is the real world test that lets the AV use the cloud in real world use scenarios. Norton had the best #1 averages with F-Secure having more compromises. So in my opinion as related to the AV Comparitives test Norton Wins # 1

Yes, indeed. When a product gets beaten by freebies, it is indeed no. 1.

Took advantage of this offer. Well worth giving them 1 like to get a 6 month full subscription. None of that 6 month trial garbage like Avira pull's off with their promotions :p

I think I will as well - Avira's Spam filter is rubbish! Irena has been around for years yet Avira doesn't mark her as spam even though she is on the training database!
