Are there any good freebies out there to help manage fonts?
searching for "free font manager" i found a few: Font Tools and Adobe Type Manager Light. also have a look in SnapFiles' freeware section for font tools.

He somes it up nicely. It is very easy to use, and works quickly and smoothly. Displays the fonts in any size. It will display Italic, bold, underline, strikeout, and lower case if font contains them. It has some limitations:
it only displays text Aa, Bb, thru Ii, and about 8 special characters.
It does not let you print out samples
you cannot view uninstalled fonts.
The last two are available in the upgrade version.
