Foldertree and Exclusion lists

Hi I am a little confuse about using the correct format.
In the example below I have files and subfolders under c:\test\programs\appl1 and also under c:\test\programs\appl2\

What is the correct format to exlude all files, and all subfolders, and also all files in this subfolders in c:\test\programs\appl2\ ??

and when do I use only one * as wild card?

When you set exclusions in the resident scanner can use special symbols (wildcards such as "* "and "?").

Examples:
To exclude all files in a folder, type the path to the folder and use the mask "*.*".
To exclude doc files, use the mask "*. doc".
If the name of an executable file has a certain number of characters (and characters vary) the first and only known with certainty (eg, "D"), use the following format: "D ?. exe" . The question marks replace the missing characters (unknown).
