I looked around and didn't like what I saw. Very mixed reviews at best. In the past, I have always used 3 programs. 7-Zip (using the encryption made for the .7z file extension http://www.7-zip.org/ ), TrueCrypt (which is now dead. But re-animated as VeraCrypt https://veracrypt.codeplex.com/ ) and version 1 of AxCrypt (which is also now dead. Version 2 does not appeal to me at this point. Plus it's a subscription based app now.) AxCrypt was my favorite for day in and day out use. Dead simple and it always, always worked. If 7-Zip or VeraCrypt don't appeal to you, I don't really have any others I could recommend at this point...
AxCrypt is very well done. I am speaking about version 1. Now version 2 is out but not tried yet. One of the very few encryption tools that work on PC, Mac, Linux and iOS (Android ?). At least you can decrypt on iOS something encrypted on PC. Look for http://www.axantum.com if I recall correctly... Version 2 is available on http://www.axcrypt.net, both free & premium.
