This https site by Google has two suggestions for me:
    1
Does this mean that Google's pages are "specially" coded?
I know that pages can be offered different content for different devices but to distinguish between modes of the same OS on the same device (bog-standard laptop)? What's my OS and the mode I use it in (Unity versus Classic), got to do with how a web page displays?

(I also know when checked by a validator that many Google pages are very far from perfect. )

For Chrome, I use ABP. And for all browsing, Privoxy is in charge. I'll check it later "without" an ad blocker and see what the page tells me.

Both aren't necessary, unless you're following their how-to's and/or supporting the website financially at the cost of a bit of your privacy.
