Tinyfirewall uses the Windows Firewall, SpyShelter checks the signatures of applications on the PC (processes and threads?). Is there any firewall that does both?
maybe - but what is your purpose? replacing spyhunter? why to check a process which is already checked (spyhunter) and which was already started? if it is legit (spyhunter) there should be no problem to let have it access to the web. if it is new to the firewall it should be alerted. if its already started is was your decision - why do you want external confirmation for your action? do you use a vm or sandbox to verify program behavior? sorry, i cant give you a black or white answer, at least there exist no absolute control over a system.
I wasn't entirely happy with spyshelter when I downloaded Musicmatch jukebox and Bytefence anti-malware was added in the background. Not too happy. Anyway, I switched to PerfectGuard and it automatically allows signed applications and prompts for manual permission for applications that are not signed. It does work with the Windows firewall, I got a notification that the Windows firewall blocked something. There are several types of firewall I have discovered personal firewall key scrambler DDoS firewall (Distributed Denial of Service) UTM firewall (Unified Threat Management) VPN firewall (Virtual Private Network) WAF (Web Application Firewall) network firewall web gateway web filtering I was wondering, do any of these names mean or do the same thing? The applications that I have found application protection, Spyshelter and PerfectGuard, are key scrambers.
This perfectguard? http://www.raxco.com/home/products/perfectguard Because it says nothing in there about being a firewall. In fact, it specifically states it's NOT a firewall.
