    In that case, you can join this forum for moment-to-moment action :D most of which is in the "Firefox Builds" section.

    Those waiting for the portableapps.com version may have to wait a while. I got the impression that Firefox is not "priority".

    I just switched from ff4 stable to ff 5 latest beta
    two things i noticed in gui
    there is now a 1-2 pixel gap above tabs so i have to click a little lower than the top of screen to select tabs
    and the toolbar buttons have sharper edge than rounded edges

    Vivek,

    I don't know what tweaks you have done and so this may not work for you but you can try putting this in a Stylish sheet or in your userChrome.css. It works for me in a maximized window:

    Code:
    @namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

    .tabbrowser-tab[selected="true"] { border: none !important; padding-left: 5px !important; padding-right: 5px !important}

    .tabbrowser-tab:not([selected="true"]) { border: none !important; padding-left: 5px !important; padding-right: 5px !important}

    If you don't like the padding-left and -right maybe you could replace both of them with just padding-top: 0 !important

    I had looked a couple of hours ago and I didn't see it. Good they got it out.

    JR, if you don't mind ...

    Have you used their (portableapps.com) updater for updating things like browsers or do you do a total download and fresh install? I gave the updater a try a couple of times but ended up failing and uninstalling it.

    One point that maybe kept in mind is that the portableapps.com version overrides the browser's cache management. Those using this version on a regular PC (as opposed to running it from a stick) may want to let the browser handle cache as it "thinks" fit. The reason why portableapps.com sets it that way is somewhere (help, please!) on their site.

    (This is under Alt, Tools, Options, Advanced, Network ...)

    In edit: see JR's comment below before changing anything.

    vasa1, no, I'm still using Platform 1.6.1 and have not installed their 2.0 Beta. I've seen a few reported errors with the Updater and there must be a reason why 2.0 is not RC yet, so I'll patiently wait. ;)

    Under Improving Firefox Portable's Performance, you'll see: "Cache is disabled by default because on most drives, cache will actually slow Firefox Portable down."

    1. I can't remember which versions I tried but I will wait as well :D

    2. Thanks for the link! After reading it, I still get the impression that disabling cache is more suited for flash drives and not for the regular drives.

    It would be quite stupid of them just to bump the version number. Just think of how the trolls would enjoy that.

    If someone is genuinely interested they can always look at the changelogs. They're in the public domain.

    Actually it's quite common practice to bump the version number after work has completed on the previous version and work is about to start on the next version.

    Useful, thanks.

    I'm not sure that is how Mozilla works.

    Anyway, there's this as well:
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Firefox_7_for_developers
    And there are links near the bottom to 6, 5, 4, etc.
