So far 3 or 4 other sites, do this, pass/user not work FF ok in GC Tried changing the Pass in FF for ebay, they sent me email link, tried entering new pass nothing happens, tried copy & paste for new pass in both fields, or repeat pass. Nothing happens! Old pass still works GC Also tried from FF. Remove/ delete cookies & cache Did not help, cannot use working user/pass from GC in FF Enabled 'accept 3rd party cookies' Did not help
Your Firefox User Profile is violated. The only way to repair is to delete it permanently and then make new. (Firefox makes it itself).
Kaljukass, Thank You! Questions may seem silly but learning: 1. Delete, all FF & install 2. FF profile is what file ?.xxx &delete 3. I did MozBack, of FF, would restoring, Bookmarks damage the new profile Thanks & Merry Christmas Rico
Not needed to delete or uninstall Firefox Firefox profile, if You uses default, is %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles if profile is damaged, usually is damaged also bookmarks and backup may give You also damaged backup file If You use not default profile location, then You already know, where You have stored it. You can also find it, if open Firefox and write on URL area: about:support Find Profile Folder (left, in table) => cliick on "Show Folder" button Close Firefox (Important!) Remove Profile folder
No, deleting the old profile is not necessary at all. Just start Firefox with the -p switch on the console: firefox -p A window opens where you can create a new clean profile which is used as the default profile from now on. If you want to go back to the old one just execute firefox -p again and select the old profile. Once you've created a new profile I strongly suggest to carefully read the follwing articles: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks They tell you how you can selectively transfer data from your old to the new profile with your file manager. After everything works as it should, then - and only then - you can consider to delete the old profile.
Thanks Guys, I'll print the two posts, & save with my notes for the future. Update - I started FF in safe mode the problem, GONE. I use Roboform pass mgr. With that add-on 'enabled' in FF Problem, disable re-check robo add-on all Fine. A roboform update, seems for now to have fixed the problem, if the problem is not fixed, or comes back Roboform sent me a long list of instructions, for a work around. One thing I did try was 'resetting' FF, turns out, that's a clumsy way to make a new profile, so I did it and got, a new profile, without me knowing it.
