firefox extensions not updating

After installing Firefox 1.5 I an not able to update the installed extensions. I'm sure it is something simple that is slipping past me. When I try to install an extension it says download installation disabled ---click on edit options to enable. when I do options comes up under the content heading and nothing I try seems to work, Also when I try to update through the extension manager I get nothing at all.

Enter about:config into the address bar ... stroll down and change boolean value for xpinstall.enabled to "True"

Also if you're using proxomitron, add the update site to the bypass list.
