    Hey Fuser, if it empowers our boy Mantra to surf the web his way - I'm all for it.

    I don't have any FF process running after I close FF. That makes me feel sort of ...umm... left out. :oops:

    But seriously folks -- 3.6 is VERRRY zippy on my computer. Faster by far than its predecessors. Ram use for me, with 6 tabs open, is only 48MB. :thumb:

    I haven't noticed any speed improvement compared to 3.5.7. Both are stable.

    RAM usage depends on settings in about:config, available memory and the webpages you surf. For me it's around 140MB.

    To get a bit faster response than default, change these settings in about:config

    browser.history_expire_days --> 30
    browser.history_expire_days.mirror --> 30
    browser.history_expire_days_min --> 15

    And use Vacuum Places Improved every 5 days or so.

    Well thanks, didn't notice the options, thought this should be done manually.

    So it does it automatically, good!

    Sade these settings
    browser.history_expire_days --> 30
    browser.history_expire_days.mirror --> 30
    browser.history_expire_days_min --> 15

    can be done in options..ot it has to be done in about:config

    browser.history_expire_days_min, can be changed in options, but the others in about:config

    Of course you can set it to whatever you'd like, I just thought the default value(90 days) is too much and causes places.sqlite to grow too much.

    FYI. After installation, found quite a few Java Console extensions had been added.

    Found this thread: Java Console extensions, initiated by our Wilders member twl845, at the Mozilla forums.

    Uninstalled all of them, except for 6.0.17, and upon installation of the newest JRE 6.0.18, the Java Console add-on reflected that update.

    Be glad you're left out, it drives me batty. As I type this, with Wilders only open, no other tabs, 50+MB usage. I'm quite happy with the speed, it IS zippy. But when you have a bunch of other issues, suddenly the speed no longer matters as much. Damn ABP and NoScript for keeping me from removing FF, lol. Seriously, FF does have its good points and 3.6 isn't a bad release.

    No, SpeedyFox compacts the other sqlite files, too. (CCleaner can do that too, by the way.)

    Thanks - I didn't know that. I have checked the appropriate block on CC's GUI.

    And on top of that, you don't see any of your menu bar items or bookmarks toollbar items without putting on glasses.

    OTOH, I think it is indeed starting and closing a tad faster than 3.5.7, but like all widely used applications it has passed the line where all fine things are there already, and every new update adds mostly silly or barely used/usable stuff.

    But it's ok for me.:)
