I dont wanna start a new thread to discuss this issue. But the extension personas doesn't work any more on FF 3.6. Right? I mean I have read complains that the default theme(groovy blue) is the only available theme for 3.6 even if you have personas installed?! o_O

I don't think the RAM usage is the the real pain with FF, it's the CPU usage that is more of a problem.

this extension has done wonders for me (note, after install is inactive and you have to set when to use it, or whether to do so by default)

Thanks, I'll play with it. Though I'm not much of an extensions collector, I have only 2 or 3 installed :)
Just for clarification, I don't think that the term "memory hog" necessarily refers to something bad.
I have a PC that I use for browsing only, it has 1 GB of RAM. I let FF occupy 200megs (and easily more on some occasions), since I don't use this PC practicaly for anything else. FF is a great browser, in many ways superior to the alternatives. However, it does use a large amount of RAM (when compared to others) and tends to be a bit sluggish and heavy on CPU, especially if you have a galaxy of addons installed. But as much as I'm aware of these shortcomings (as a loose term), I use it as my primary browser and like it very much. Opera still remains a personal favorite though.

@GlobalForce - the extension allows you to view more entries in the location bar WITHOUT the scrollbar.

You don't need the Personas extension anymore in 3.6, its functionality is baked right into this new version. If you have Firefox 3.6 then you can just go to http://www.getpersonas.com and begin using the themes there.

I thought jump list support for Windows 7 was going to be added for this release? Or is that going to be part of 3.7?

Jump list support will be in Firefox 4.0 (there will be no 3.7).

Probably late 2010 or early 2011.

October-November 2010 is being tossed around, but it's more likely early 2011.

Yeah, they decided, thankfully, to start doing upgrades in increments instead of bundling new functions up in another release. The more I play with 3.6, the more it shows it's still the same old browser. I still get the high memory use/cpu usage, the hangs, and the extremely annoying FF process still running after I have closed the browser, making me physically kill it in Process Explorer.
