Considering the lightweight/efficiency/simple to use, which is the best firewall between Filseclab and Netveda? Thanx to all for the answer. zeppelin
Hi zeppelin & welcome to Wilders, Don't know which one is the best. Haven't tried Netvada yet. I do know FilseClab is a very easy firewall, as it comes with predefined rules. Always got perfect stealth with it too. Just be careful when removing FilseClab from your system. Shut down the firewall and start the remove_safemode.bat. Afterwards you may uninstall the firewall. In case you didn't, you may re-install it again, the remove_safemode.bat will be available, then you may run it to remove the DLL and then run the uninstall to remove it completely. It was also a lightweight on my system, but that may depend from your PC. Try both out to see what YOU like best and runs light on your system. Hope you'll find the one you like.
Thank you Eldar. I am trying Filseclab and it works good. By the way, where can i find a guide for these firewalls? zeppelin
My pleasure zeppelin. AFAIK I never found a guide about it. Didn't even need one, because that firewall is really easy. Of course about the rules it could need some explanation too, when you want to create your own rules. Do have a look here too and perform a search to find other topics: - filseclab rules - Filseclab Personal Firewall and stealthing ports Edit: Getting Started with FilseClab Personal Firewall Hope that helps a bit.
I've successfully uninstalled Filseclab the normal way and also had installed other firewall programs after uninstalling Filseclab. So why do I need to use this remove_safemode.bat?
Are you sure you uninstalled it completely? FilseClab will uninstall through Software, but Xfilter.dll will be loaded on startup again and will give you problems when installing another firewall. It's also mentioned on FilseClab's website and it's also what Tom Liu, the developer, wrote to me when I experienced problems having another firewall installed. In case you're having problems, just reinstall FilseClab again and use that procedure to remove everything. Hope you won't experience what I had.
I've removed Filseclab the normal way and installed several others since then, including Comodo and Kerio Personal Firewall. I've had no problems
Guess I got bad luck then when uninstalling FilseClab through Software only. To make sure, check to see if that dll-file isn't loaded at startup. It broke my internet connection after some time with OutPost.
