Last night I did a timing and space comparison of file backup versus partition (sector) backup in DB10 Pro (trial version). A 143G partition backed up to a USB portable drive in about 4 hours; a file back up on the same partition took just under 12 hours. These are mostly large files (photos); the difference in storage requirements was negligible.

An earlier, closed, thread discussed this issue in DB9 and suggested that we should see similar speed for each type in DB10. Obviously that isn't my experience based on one trial. Have others compared the two kinds of backups?

File level backup has always be significantly slower than sector level backup. Drive Backup 10 was able to close the gap further from version 9 and will continue to do so with every major update. DB 9 file level backup was almost 10 times slower o_O .
