Fed up with slow and pricey Internet, cities start demanding gigabit fiber

    Also, consider this. I live in a part of the U.S. where Verizon offers FIOS. Comcast is the only competition to FIOS in this area and yet Verizon speeds go at best 10 - 20 percent above Comcast for an enhanced price of course. Fiber could easily take over the high speed market if the infrastructure was laid. Now mind you I am far from being any type of fiber expert, but it seems to me that if a company like Verizon is going to offer Fiber then they should tier the service so it blows the doors off Comcast.

    Or, both Comcast and Verizon plus the other ISPs could follow the rest of the world (esp. South Korea) and charge a reasonable price instead of the inflated prices they charge now.
