    The false narrative here is that backdooring encryption would prevent crime.
    Anyone who is criminal and smart enough to leave no evidence of their crimes EXCEPT what is encrypted on their phones is also smart enough to stop using them altogether to discuss criminally related activity if and when encryption is backdoored/sidedoored.

    Then the only ones still doing that would be the dumb petty criminals that leave plenty of other evidence behind them for law enforcement to find if they wanted to get off their computer desk and do some real police work, but they would rather jeopardize the security of everyone else's data before they do that because people that self incriminate by what they have on their phones make for easy arrest and conviction.
