I have read an article describing how to speed up booting on multi-core machines via System Configuration (Windows + R, typing msconfig, section Computer Booting, Advanced Options, enable option Number of Processors and choose number of cores from drop-down menu). I have a two cores system so I enabled two cores but honestly I didn't notice any improvement in booting speed. Your experience or thoughts? Is it worth or not?
Not because it's a myth https://web.archive.org/web/2014072...rformance-for-multi-core-users-with-msconfig/ https://www.howtogeek.com/173648/10-windows-tweaking-myths-debunked/
Agree with the statement it's a myth or urban legend. Saw multiple articles that stated even Win 7 uses all available CPU cores at boot time. So what actually is the purpose of the setting is msconfig boot settings? https://www.techjunkie.com/enable-all-cores-windows/ To verify the above Win 10 statements, I set the msconfig boot setting to use all of my CPU 6 cores. See below screen shot: I then reset back to the original 1 core "off" setting. See below screen shot: Bottom line - enabling the setting does nothing in Win 10. All cores are enable by the OS by default.
