    Hi,

I've recently installed ESS 4.0.314.0 and it appears to be running well.

    One small thing:

I do NOT update Windows XP (SP3) anymore, since I found it sometimes causes more problems than it solves. Because of this I get the ESS icon displayed on the task bar in 'semi-warning' mode (orange not green). Is there anyway of telling ESS to 'ignore' my preference in NOT uopdating Windows?

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

This is rapidly becoming a FAQ, even during BETA testing. Help is everyone's friend :) and your thread title will attract hits, so the answer is...

Help -> Contents -> Dialog Windows -> Tools -> Operating System Updates -> Operating System Updates - Settings

    System Updates ESET.jpg

This thread was helpful. I disabled updates. Don't know where ESET gets its info, but I found updates listed that were not critical Windows which is what was checked. Listed were MB, soundcard, scanner, printer, and ... Since I update selectively, it is best for me to not have ESET check.

    Thanks for the thread.

The info is taken from your Windows Update service. You are subsequently notified about selected level of missing updates by a yellow notification in the Protection status window.
