An interesting addition to the mid range market. It will be interesting to see if people are willing to pay a premium for a repairable, up-gradable phone with long support time frames. BUT - from Arstecnica article comments - For instance it is very difficult to get replacement parts, screen protectors, cases, etc if you don't want to pay a third party or if you know a person in the EU/England. The most interesting thing about this phone, which should appeal to many of the readers in this forum is :- /e/ is a "fully deGoogled," "privacy by design" fork of Android that dumps Google's apps and services for alternatives provided by /e/. But, they have used the "B" grade range of hardware to make it financially attractive 3 year old CPU -- Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G (SM7225) Qualcomm Adreno 619 mobile graphics card Battery -- 3905 mAh - but it is of course removable The network band speeds are fairly universal, but basic. Nevertheless, phone should operate just about anywhere. https://murena.com/america/shop/smartphones/brand-new/murena-fairphone-4/ The Dutch electronics manufacturer has mostly only focused on the European market but is finally bringing the Fairphone 4 to the US - with some caveats. Price: US$599 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is US$679 - which makes it the better buy. The price is a little high, BUT, if you want a deGoogled mobile phone that can be "easily" repaired and upgraded, then it is worth consideration. As this phone has been available in Europe for a while a good review starting point is Amazon, which has enough info to push you one way or the other. Me? At this point I think not. I'm due an upgrade and it's hard to beat the Pixel 7A - IMHO.
