i have read now a lot of comments, complaints and congrats about fairmail and its developer.

fairmail is only one "victim" for the google 2FA policy, not only google=gmail.
direct access to google account is no longer available since 1.7.

what i dont understand, and why user complain now is that he has dropped it all in anger, and not the first time the wrote. such behavior is neither nor acceptable. further the author complained that the money he have earned with selling the pro version is not enough to survive. so what?
users would spend some more but in case of kicked ass there is zero tolerance and that now happend.

if google will approve his new release, than he had luck, otherwise there are upcoming other problems. google is forcing apps not to install apk packages. eg TotalCOmmander was forced this way and the google store build is not able to install apk. so user is forced to find a client which is capable to install apk and he need to install that client. it may happen that at least (google original) android is not allowing to install apk from other sources than the store.

releases through f-droid are questionable from my view, not only:

    also here

based on the code, more or less secure, f-droid apps are more less or secure. while google is raising its level and the preliminaries.
