I would recommend you read up this https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Blocking-mode https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-to-easily-reduce-privacy-exposure https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Dynamic-filtering:-Benefits-of-blocking-3rd-party-iframe-tags (you will have to add exceptions for captchas and embedded videos. Those won't work with that. Fortunately it's not too hard. Sometimes there is other stuff too that needs to make exceptions, u will notice if u are expecting something to happen but it's not or the site "does nothing" chances are good you need to disable 3rd party iframe blocking for that site, unless ofc u wanna keep it enabled and just make an exception for the iframe, which imo is the better option as u build up rules it will happen less and less often but sometimes it's better to just disable it on that website) I would not recommend blocking 3rd party scripts tho (the "Medium" mode) that takes way too long to configure for each web page and u still don't know what should or should not be allowed unless u can read the code manually yourself (and even if you can it's not a pleasant thing to do)
On that 2nd link it mentions facebook, but u can also block google globally, those 2 by themselves cover a humongous number of tracking
I've been using uBlock Origin does a pretty good job. I also use the add-on F.B Purity - Cleans up Facebook with Firefox. This is more for filtering out junk I don't want but it does block things line Sponsored Box / Post, Market Place, etc.
Thanks, guys!!! I do not use FB, my wife complained about the ads, she uses Chrome. I've installed Chrome add blocker for FB, & will post her opinion of the add-on
When i started writing my post i immediately assumed advanced knowledge and gave you stuff that was never really meant for you in the first place. Turns out you just wanted a simple ad blocker. In which case, ublock origin (NOT ublock that is VERY different and bad) is what you want. Go to chrome store and type ublock origin. It's widely recognized as the best blocker and there is no reason to use another one. Unless you're one of those guys that will spend 30 mins on every website to nitpick everything.
Yes there is a difference, my reference to uBlock should have been uBlock Origin. I've changed my post to reflect that. I am surprised that uBlock still exist. I was even more surprised that it is offered in the Chrome Store. It's not offered on Mozilla Add-ons. At least I could not find it. uBlock Origin has a Recommended tag. It's the first to popup when searching for ublock.
