Why won't they just provide a limited free version?

    That would be awesome.

For now I've uninstalled it. It just seemed to slow my system a bit, and I'm a firm believer in finding free software to use. It was cool of them to do that though.

I was a little disappointed it left behind two drivers, one of them active (the HIPS driver).

Thank you, I will give F-secure a try. I'm very interested to see how F-Secure AV works w/ Outpost Firewall.

    Thanks!
Pretty quick download and install, updates took about an average length of time.
Running 55 MB in memory, no noticeable slowdown.
Simple GUI but very cool looking.
    Thanks again!

Thank you, about to try it now. :) So, is this a sign of the end of paid AVs?

What exactly were the differencies between F-S AV and IS? (Had a look on their web pages, but couldn't find the answer with the couple of minutes I invested. It threw me to the Finnish pages, tho. Perhaps english pages clarify the differencies?)
The IS uses Windows firewall nowdays.

Anyway, gonna make a test install to see if it works well with e.g. Comodo FW and my poker database program, and prolly with Zemana too...

Btw, how long's the offer gonna last? So the registering of the install time-limited or not?

Free is nice! ...However, is this AV any good? I have used Vipre for my AV needs since the beginning. I was an original beta tester.

    From what I can tell:

    F-Secure AV:
    - An AV (duh!)
    - An antispyware module
    - DeepGuard

    F-Secure IS:
    - All the features of the AV and added with...
    - A firewall
    - Email protection/anti-spam
    - Parental control

    See...

I downloaded it. I won't install it for awhile. Is there a code that will automatically be entered when installed?

I have used it in the past, and liked it, but it is expensive compared to others, especially on ebay.

just wondering if this will update to the 2014 version (which is currently in beta) when it is released or if it will stay as the 2013 version for the remainder of the year hence why it is free

firewall doesnt included in F-secure AV
but there are option for internet access control on deepguard settings. (default: on)

    DeepGuard is very impressive.
I test it, Some ramsomware can bypass DeepGuard but generally it is very good.

Just a heads up....My installation failed ... I got a message that F-Secure conflicts with ZoneAlarm Firewall (Free).

another heads up, it wont let me choose what to do with a detected file. set all options to 'ask on detection' but it still keeps removing malware files without asking...

Did you uncheck "handle all files automatically"?

Download the Eicar test file, http://www.eicar.org/86-0-Intended-use.html, save the string in a notepad file to your desktop and then scan with the av. You should get an option screen.

yes i did uncheck that and tested with eicar file and real malware, it just removes on detection

pretty sure this is a bug and not normal behavior as i have used f-secure in the past and it did not remove files automatically when appropriate options were selected

dont have time to diagnose this bug so i am making this post from a pre-installation image

It won't even let Eicar download on my rig, just clicking doesn't do anything. Tried every which way but still nothing.
