I've got one of these buy never use it. It's a nice idea, but poorly implemented, which causes problems. There are some steraming issues at times, and I find the sound quality of streamed video is very poor. Having said that, every month or so updates are released to the EZCast PC software which offer some improvements. As soon as an update is released, when you launch the EZCast you are given the option to install it. There is no delay between releasing and updated installer and software finding the new update.

Another issue with the device, is that by default when you use the EZCast software, your computer connects to the internet via the EZCast device, rather than using your current wifi connection, in order to improve streaming. Doing so, makes internet usage slower on your PC. However, you can change this behaviour in the settings.

For the security issue, hopefully the manufacturer will release a firmware update soon to fix it. Firmware updates are released every so often, and the device has an update function to check for and install firmware updates.
