i have an external HD (500GB) permanently connected to my PC.
This HD has three partitions H, I and J.
The drive J shows :"Total Size: 165GB" and "Free Space: 119GB"
The J drive is empty (no file appears in it when opening it)
when opening a new folder within this drive, a window pop-up saying:
"unable to create the folder "New Folder
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable"
No issue with drives H and I .

    1. How this drive (J) became corrupted
    2. Is it possible to recover its content before reformatting it

    Thanks

You may have luck retrieving the info from the J partition using Power Data Recovery. Free for home use. Just be sure you recover the data to a different drive.
