    Hello,

    Is anyone else having their extensions deleted from the latest edge 118 release?

    I just updated edge to 118 today and when I close my browser (sandboxie plus set to auto-delete sandbox), it also deletes the browser extension (specifically ublock orgin).

    This must be a new sandboxie conflict as when I pause forcing programs (browser), the extension is NOT deleted. This includes after a reboot or logout.

    When I turn off auto-delete sandbox, the extension is also NOT deleted. For now, as a workaround, I have turned off auto delete.

    Thanks for any thoughts,
    tes

    Win 11 pro 22621.2428
    Sandboxie Plus 1.11.4

    PS I had been using Sandboxie Plus and Edge prior to the latest Edge update and the extension was ok. ONLY after updating to Edge 118 did this problem appear.

    You haven't shared your Sandboxie configuration with us, so we can't be sure what's going wrong.

    Were these extensions installed inside or outside the sandbox?

    It seems that there are two possibilities:
    1. A sync-related problem (the Edge sync feature does not work under Sandboxie)
    2. There may be a problem with Secure Preferences (if the hash values calculated inside and outside the sandbox are different, Edge may reset mismatched settings).

    fwiw ~ maybe, reproduced on W10 + 1.11.4
    as test: Edge and two extensions installed outside [Default] sbox.
    (Popup my Bookmarks & uBlock Origin)
    [Default] sbox + Auto-delete + Force Edge = extensions remain
    [Default] sbox + Auto-delete + Force Edge + Edge Profile Direct Access = extensions gone
    Re-install two extensions = my bookmarks and uBO content okay.
    No need to restore bookmarks or uBO settings.

    Edge Profile 2 extensions were not touched.
    as always, your mileage may vary

    I have tried installing extensions both inside and outside the sandbox with the same results.

    @bjm_
    I tried your suggestion to remove the "Edge Profile Direct Access" and that stopped deleting extentions with auto-delete.

    Years ago, I had allowed "Edge Profile Direct Access" so that bookmarks, history, cookies etc. would be updated as I browsed the internet.
    What do people now do as best practice for this kind of convenience?

    Yeah, as I recall from Sandboxie days...direct access to browser profile was frowned upon. I only run direct access to bookmarks. I maintain persistent login cookies, passwords, extensions outside sbox.
    I tested profile direct access because your .ini = Template=Edge_Profile_DirectAccess

    You can use this, but changes made to the Secure Preference file will not persist when you run Edge in a sandbox. (You will need to install extensions from outside the sandbox).

    Sandboxie-Plus > Right click on the sandbox > Sandbox Opitons > Edit ini Section > Paste > OK
    This setting will ensure that changes made to the Secure Preference file remain in the sandbox. (When using Edge_Profile_DirectAccess)
    Code:
    NormalFilePath=msedge.exe,|%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Secure Preferences
