When formatting an existing partition as ext4 using DiskUtility, the program later reports it as ext3. However, when selecting the disk and pressing ⌘-I, Mac OS correctly reports it as ext4. Everything seems to work correctly as expected on an ext4 volume but DiskUtility always reports is as ext3.
