Marketing is a key for any business and increases customer base when effective.
Linux has some limitations when compared to other businesses.
    • Cash for advertising and marketing.
    • Too broad a distribution of the business.
    • Design choices don't affect the bottom line ($), so bad choices can persist longer.
The great thing about linux is all of the tools inherent in every distro.

A method to gain a larger market presence would require multiple angles.
    • A linux Tutorial distro, supported by at least all of the major distributions.
Incorporating tutorial videos and documentation on the distro.
Tutorial balloons/dialogues that when areas are highlighted describe the tool with links to the included videos or documents.
    • Internet Tech TV advertising
This is currently a new development area so Linux adverts would be inexpensive.
    • A Linux Vendor Marketing group that focuses on the Linux brands
    • A sharp and slick Youtube campaign showing how Linux fixes Windows

    Just some thoughts.
