    Hi PrevX Team.

I am running Avast! 5 and PrevX here and i would like to exclude the Alwil Software from beeing scanned by PrevX.

I put the Avast folder to "detection overrides" but the Avast files still gets scanned. That takes a while so that Avast can not start up quickly. So i would really like to skip that.

    Any suggestions?

    regards

I also thought that inclusion in the Overrides stopped the scanning but look at Joe's response in this thread .

They will still be scanned (at least locally). If you are experiencing any slowdown, feel free to mail over a scan log to report@prevxresearch.com and I can see if we can whitelist the Avast files centrally to prevent the rescanning.

    Let me know! :)

Might be worth adding a feature that allows you to specify a folder not to scan period. Would be nice to have it that way programs I know are safe wont be scanned repeatedly. :D Kind of like a local whitelist.

I agree - and we've worked on trying to add this type of exclusion but have currently stayed away from it because of the possibility for abuse by malware if it was to covertly add itself to the exclusion list (as quite a few threats have done in the past to other AVs).

We've now designed a very secure method of storing the details but may wait until Prevx 4.0 to roll it out just because of the impact it could have on existing users.

I'll keep you all informed with our progress :)

What's the status on this? We're desperately in need of some real exclusion power. If you run PrevX on a Server hosting ASP.Net pages, then all the temp files that ASP.Net generates are scanned by PrevX, which slows the whole system down. It's much the same for SQL servers and any other enterprise grade gear.

Could you please save a scan log by clicking Tools - Save Scan Results and send it to report@prevxresearch.com? Prevx shouldn't be scanning temporary files from ASP.Net because it blocks code as it executes rather than as files are written but we can take a look to see if there is anything else that we can improve in the scan speed in your environment.

    Thank you!
