I have Ewido 4.0, and a lifetime license.
Is there any advantage to going to AVG AS 7.5? If so do I need to uninstall V 4.0?
I assume my current license will be recognized.

    Thanks,
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry,
See this post for more information.
I uninstalled it prior to installing AVG AS, just to be sure. :D
You'll have to re-enter your license, but it will be recognized. :)

Maybe someone else can add more. ;)

    Eldar,
Thanks for the reply. I have been waiting to see if there are problems with AVG. I have not had any with Ewido.

Maybe one of the mods will have some comments.

    Best,
    Jerry

    I went from Ewido 4.0 to AVG A/S 7.5.
These are the free versions, but it should be the same process.
    I Unistalled 4.0,rebooted,ran registry cleaner,and then installed 7.5.
There is a link to enter your registration key in the AVG A/S 7.5 program console.
From a post here in the forum I understand that the 4.0 reg key will work for 7.5.

The only thought I have about reason to change...
How long will Ewido 4.0 be updated?I'm guessing that it will be phased out soon.

    My pleasure Jerry. ;)
Didn't have problems with Ewido, nor do I have some with AVG AS. It's the same app, just a different name. :p

Reminds me I need to change my sig. :D

The new setup (7.5.0.50) can upgrade ewido 4.0 to AVG A-S 7.5... You will not have to enter your license code again (if you have one) and most of your settings and quarantine items + report will be kept. :)

I changed this week with no problems. Seems to run lighter as others have commented

Just to be clear: I can now install AVG A-S 7.5.0.50 without having to first un-install ewido 4? If so, I may finally make the plunge...

I went with the AVG 7.5. So far all is running well. I did have to get another license number, but it was no trouble. Hope it is a lifetime license number, but guess we will see.

    Regards,
    Jerry

I've got only one teensy little gripe with the new one, and this might even have been the same with ewido given my poor (personal, not system) memory.

It seems the only way to check what version I've currently got is by way of "Info" in the tooltray-icon menu, there's nothing in the program itself. Just a hint to the development crew, Help/About is almost universally accepted as the usual place for that.

upgrade to AVG was painless. It even shuts down the browser for you so it can install. Same app different colors and icon.

If we're talking about the same thing, you get your license code via e-mail after you cough up the fee. If you run the restricted free version there is no code.

Could someone please tell me how to uninstall Ewido 4 and install AVGAS 7?
We downloaded the file " AVGAS.setup.7.5.0.47.exe."
Someone said to uninstall Ewido first. (If this is correct, would we use the Control Panel's "Add and Remove Programs?")
Someone else said just to load AVGAS 7 and it will over-write Ewido 4.
Someone else said just to load AVGAS 7 and it will state that you already have Ewido 4 and do you want to delete it. (And then I presume you would type YES.)
Can someone say which might be correct? Just a bit confusing for me.
Would we only have to click on the program: "AVGAS.set.7.5.0.47.ext" that we have and that would uninstall Ewido 4, and load AVGAS 7, and we would be 'all set?'
    Thanks for any help.

    Alice

You don't have to uninstall ewido. Go to the ewido web page and about 4 o'clock on the page it says something about if your a ewido owner click here. This brings you to the download page where it will overwrite ewido as it installs AVG. Yes it will ask if you want to overwrite ewido, and you click yes. Just follow the directions to install. Have your license number handy, as I think I remember you have to type it in. Maybe you won't, as it should be already in the ewido app. You'll see.

    Hello Alice,

I'm not sure when you downloaded the file but the program is now at version 7.5.0.50 and you might want to consider downloading the latest version if you have not installed the program yet. If you install the 47 version....as soon as it's installed it's going to want to upgrade to 50 anyway.

You should definitely download .50 as it has an improved upgrade mechanism for ewido 4.0.
