I'm currently using eTrust 7 promo as my main AV scanne; It doesn't have a mail scanner. I use avast4 as my backup scanner (I have an old 300 MHz celeron with 128 MB ram).
Is AVG6 free good enough (regarding detection) to replace eTrust? It has better results than eTrust at www.virus.gr

    Minacross,

Etrust is overall the far better choice. As for virus.gr - let's say we do regard this as "just another" - one of many. I for one wouldn't rely on the results published over there.

    regards.

It also says in the introduction that Vet was not tested as at the time there was no Vet demo available . Your e trust v7 promo also contains Vet engine as does the more recent e trust EZ anti virus .

from experience I have found etrust to slow down a low spec computer more than AVG does

both appear to be equally effective in catching and killing viruses, AVG mail scanner is better than nothing, but I have never found it exceptionally good at stopping incoming viruses, you still need to save attachments and manually scan them to be safe
