It isn't necessary , the real-time protection will detect any possible threat . Test it yourself by downloading this and try to extract it:

Then you will most likely be able to search and find the answer as well. When people keep asking the same question over and over again it's better to teach them how to search when the answer is already to be found in a lot of threads. There is a reason why there is a search function.

This is not true. It works and i know that since i tried it myself and read in this forum that a lot of others got it working as well. You shouldn't post nonsense like this when you don't know what you are talking about.

You've made your point jhuk. Let's see if there is a solution that may be offered here in this thread.

I said it was nonsense because the statement is not true, but i was still polite and did not call you anything or used bad language. There are other threads in this forum that explain in details with examples how this can be done.

Does not work for you on Vista 64 and does not work at all is two different things. You gave the impression it's not working period. I don't use Vista 64 so cannot test, but this is the first time i read that ecls.exe does not work under Vista 64.

I did not read the post here before it was edited by the mods, but i read your pm where you call me thing i will not repeat or answer since that kind of behavior does not belong in a forum. I did forward the pm to the mods though so they can take a look at your language.

Well actually i use Vista and to get back to the topic of this thread.....below is an example that works for Vista, 2000 and XP using Winrar.

In the Virus scanner field enter:
    C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security\ecls.exe

And in the Virus Scanner parameters field enter:
    "%f" /base-dir="C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security"

There is a lot of other parameters that can be used so i recommend to check them out and use the options you prefer. Also if using nod32 or if installed into another directory then the default the path must be changed for both the base-dir parameter and the path before ecls.exe. This is tested and works using Vista, XP and 2000. You can use the help in ESS or nod32 and search for "command line" to find all the available command line options.

As mentioned earlier by Ronjor above, points have been made and suggest We get back to "ESS scan in WinRar".
Also, posts have been removed and certain comments edited out.
