I have Call of Duty 4 on Steam, it has just been updated to 1.2.

ESS has just quarantined the single player exe file, where the hell can I find it nowo_O?? Also how the hell can it be considered a viruso_O?

go to ess/quarantine and press restore, then set the file in antivirus/exclusions

Here is the post on the Steam forums, looks like I'm not the only one with this problem. With the exe file having been interrupted during transit it was broken when it finally saved, rendering it useless.

You can see someone else's post of the virus report here, it's reported as containing a CRYPT.Win32 virus, it should be clean as it was delivered through Valve Software's Steam software delivery system.

I don't know, the file was obliterated by the scanning/downloading debacle so it's not going to be the correct filesize.

It wasn't an infected file, obviously you didn't read my post properly, I had to delete the file as it was corrupted by the whole process. I've now changed the folder to be excluded from scans and re-downloaded the correct file successfully, instructions are in that thread I listed.

Instructions for fixing it are here. Hopefully ESET will add it to the list of safe applications

And thats why 'automatic' cleaning and moving files fails each and every time.

Obviously you didn't read proactivelovers post correctly. He indicated it could be a FP. I also noted you are a lot more polite in the steam forum you provided the link to. You might try that approch here. It will go over a lot better.
