ESS blocking VNC on home network - please advise

    Hi all,

    I'm trying to use TightVNC from my PC to connect to my Mum's laptop over our home network. Both the PC and the laptop are running ESS in Automatic mode for the firewall but ESS appears to be blocking TightVNC.

    I tried switching to interactive mode on the laptop and okay'd TightVNC and it worked but I've now switched back to Automatic mode and TightVNC doesn't connect any more.

    I prefer to use Automatic mode, at least on the laptop, to cut down the number of pop-up messages from ESS that my Mum has to deal with.

    Any help greatfully appreciated.

    Hi, rules created in interactive mode do not carry over to automatic mode. Based on what you've described, you will need to operate in interactive or policy-based mode.

    There is a way to operate in policy-based mode that closely resembles automatic mode. See this post for details:
