I have 13.2.18.0 on one machine and 14.0.21.0 on the other. I compared them side-by-side and there is no change... same four choices in each version.
In a/the previous thread we were talking about scan speed related to scanning registry and WMI. This kind of scanning, as posted and commented at that time, could cause a big time for the time of scanning. I noticed with version 14 that that is nomore the case, and I really wondered why. Was it me, my settings, other new settings? There is a recent thread at the Eset forum in which the same kind of question was asked. https://forum.eset.com/topic/25967-recent-improvement-in-scan-speed/ The answer from @Marcos there is: I have to look more closely at this. As always comments are welcome.
Not 100% true. Eset startup scans are still scanning WMI entries. This can be confirmed by noting errors in Win WMI event log related to ekrn.exe PID. However, the WMI entries are minimal and would not create any perceivable performance impact. The errors are another issue.
Hello @itman, Please tell exactly what is not 100 % true in reply # 29. I may misunderstand your post. That is of course always possible. So, please tell us exactly what was not 100 % true in that reply. Thank you.
Even one thing, which disappoints me. I was having 28 days in trial and added key. it shows only 12 months. 28 days gone. When I sent an email to customer care, they suggested an excellent way. after 12 months, install one month trial period again and get 30 days.
Posting by Marcos earlier today in the Eset forum thread https://forum.eset.com/topic/25968-here-are-the-release-notes-for-new-version-140210/ I was indeed thinking that there could have been something not completely right. Whether it is related, I don't know. Let's be patient ...
Yikes! I was referring to the cross-linked Marcos reply you posted. Also further clarified by my additional comments in my posting.
Version 14.0.22.0 released I got it offered via the internal updater (on regular release channel). Reboot required as usual. Changelog https://www.eset.com/int/home/internet-security/download/ Go there to the advanced download option: Version 14.0.22.0 Fixed: Minor bugs At the moment I don't see it announced at other places. I leave that to others.
Not entirely true. There are changes in the GUI between v13 and v14. I have one pc with v13 still on it and one pc with v14 on it, so I can compare settings across the board. Under TOOLS in Advanced Setup, some v13 "Email notifications" settings have changed. In v14 the category is now simply "Notifications" (having dropped the "Email" in the title), and there are a couple of extra (added) sub-categories there now, namely BASIC and DESKTOP NOTIFICATIONS. EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS category still exists in v14, but it is a sub-category now. Also found some settings under SMTP SERVER that have been changed (added) in v14. There could be more that I have overloooked, but I tried to be thorough in the comparison. Reason I go to the trouble of documenting and creating screen captures is that in the past, I have found some settings that were not carried over from one version release to the next, and there are so darn many settings in this program that it's difficult for me to remember where I have changed the defaults.
@xxJackxx Hi Jack, With respect to your post here in that other thread. Are there no deals/discounts for example at Cyber Monday? There is a member here ( @webyourbusiness ) who is reseller in the US. See https://www.betterantivirus.com/ For renewal see https://store.betterantivirus.com/eset-home-products/eset-renewal-licenses/ About a year ago I bought renewal at Eset NL (different country, different reseller; I know) for EIS for 3 licences for 3 years for about Euro 84 included VAT. Not so bad, I would think. But of course I don't know what you can afford (please be assured that I do say that with full respect!!).
The Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals were nothing special this year, nor were they last year if I remember correctly. I am also familiar with the reseller you mentioned and was actually a direct customer of theirs for several years but it is only within their ability to go down to a certain price before there is nothing in it for them. My problem is that even on sale I am probably looking at a minimum of $40 - $50 per year U.S. dollars. I could pay that and survive but am not willing to. Other top rated products can be had for far less. I won't name names but I paid $14.99 for a 5 user license of a top rated product. And ultimately Windows Security (aka Windows Defender) is free and good enough when price is a factor. If all things were equal I would likely buy ESET first but the price is the price and I'll buy what I'm willing to spend. Thank you for your assistance with the situation but until/unless I can find similar deals (it has happened occasionally at Newegg) I'll have to stick with what I have.
No great deals there for renewals. For Internet Security, only $5 less on 1 year and $3 less on 2 year renewal versus official Eset N.A. eStore web site. Bottom line as I found out this year, you won't find any deals on Eset renewals. I renewed from Eset eStore on Black Friday for 1 year for $49. On Cyber Monday, Internet Security could be had from Eset eStore for $29 for a new license! As it turned out, I would have only lost a couple of weeks on my existing license by buying a new license on Cyber Monday. My other pet peeve with Eset is it used to give renewal discounts based on years product use that appear to have gone by the wayside. As far as Newegg goes, they appear to only offer good deals on new Eset licenses when they can buy a bulk lot of prior year Eset unused product licenses. Such was the case for recent Internet Security sale. That was actually for EIS 2019. Currently no issues with this since Eset still honors old unused license keys. But with Eset "cracking down" on significantly reduced license prices, that also could change. I agree with @xxJackxx. You can find products with equivalent Eset protection capability such a Kaspersky and BitDefender at much lower prices if price is your primary criteria.
Yeah that is the one thing with ESET. No renewal discount from them. The product is priced higher than a lot of others as well. I am with you and Jack. I want to renew my ESET but have not yet since I have not found any significant discounts for it as of yet. I am currently running WD in hopes of a sale, but if not may just stick with that or be forced to go with another vendor.
Check prices on amazon, new and renewal is solid cheaper. here in India, amazon.in, New is between $5-10 and renewal is $10-15 for 3 years. I bought kaspersky, ESET, Fsecure all from amazon only.
Yeah, in the U.S. there aren't going to be any great Amazon deals. Newegg is about the only hope for a good sale and those are few and far between. ESET can charge whatever they want for their products and I certainly don't deny them that, but if their products are not price competitive with others then others will get the sale.
You can buy a 1-year subscription to ESET Internet Security for 300 Rupee, which is about $4 US. https://www.amazon.in/Eset-Internet-Security-Delivery-hours/dp/B079KPY3H6/ You can use Amazon India with your existing Amazon account. You will just have to add a random Indian address and use that as the delivery address. The license is delivered by email, so the address won't actually be used. I buy most of my security software from Amazon India.
There were deals. We had a thread about it: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...-2020-security-it-vpn-antivirus-deals.434571/ It points to Bleeping Computer: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...day-2020-security-it-vpn-and-antivirus-deals/ That article can still be seen. It says about ESET: "40% Off" That original article for Black Friday was updated for Cyber Monday. But that is now too late. However I see now this ESET site: https://www.eset.com/us/holiday-2020/ It says "$20 off" (that is: you're saving 20 US dollars) I don't know at the moment for how long that offer is going; I mean on which days you can buy it (until Christmas?).
Have you recently tried to activate a license purchased there outside of India? Eset has "cracked down" on their licensing use. If you try to purchase a license from another country and activate that license outside of that country, you're going to have problems. Eset licenses are country specific. Additionally, any Eset tech support would have to be provided by whomever sold this license in India.
