Are you sure this number is right, that signature update was already released more than a month ago.. It could be a mistype or something or Eset is just very late with it's Press release

 

I noticed that too, as I had just received notice of the press release and was coming here to share it. Wonder what the real number should be.

 

5187 was released on 10 June 2010

On 13/15 June 2010 we had a thread:
ESS takes less time scaning

Although the topic in that thread was about the start-up scan, maybe the two things are related.

 

The Press Release also goes on to say:

I have not personally noticed this on my machine as of yet. The update file cited does date back to June 10, as noted already.

They are as they concern the very same thing / optimization.
