ESET smart security blocks gmail,windows updates and others-what to do?

Hi there.

I was hoping someone could help me sort out the issue.
I recently installed smart security 5.2.9.1 and updated it to the latest definitions.
Yesterday I noticed that windows issued updates and they were ready to install. I tried to install the updates but they failed. During the updating procedure windows reported that updates failed and reverted to previous state.
This issue with updates started after installing ESET smart security.
Additionally now my google and my chase sites are being blocked. That is untill I tick HTTPS scanner set up->DO NOT USE HTTPS scanner

So at this point as I understand no HTTPS traffic is being scanned.

I am sure there is a better workaround then that.
Could anyone please suggest what do I need to check to have updates working and https showing and being 100% protected ?

What version of Windows and what browser are you using?

Also, I had the same Windows failure on the update. I ran it again and it ran fine. Have you tried running the update again? Which specific update failed? Was there an error code give?
