ESET Smart Security and FFXI problems

Hey, I just installed ESET Smart Security and every few frames while playing the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI the game hangs for just a second and then starts moving again. I added exclusions from scanning for all related .exes and it didn't help. Turning off Anti-Stealth and Self-Defense had no effect. I tried disabling realtime scanning, the firewall, and antivirus and antispyware protection with no luck. Anyone have any suggestions?

Running Windows 7 Professional x64.

Does setting the firewall integration to "Personal firewall is completely disabled" followed by a computer restart make a difference?

 

Thanks for the suggestions. Setting the firewall integration to "Personal firewall is completely disabled" and rebooting fixed it. So what do I need to do to keep the firewall up but run the game properly?
