Currently, this item is available only to customers located in the United Kingdom and who have a U.K. invoice address  It´s always US or UK who get cheap Eset :thumbd:

I'm glad I tripped across this. I had Security 6 and when I clicked on update, I got Security 7. I'm in the US BTW. Good product IMO (6 anyway, we'll have to see on 7).

I'm finding it difficult to decide whether to buy ESS or Nod32 (i'm currently trialing both) and I came across this very old thread https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=241466 where it is mentioned that if you have an ESS license you can also use it for Nod32, but not the other way around. Does anyone know if this is still true? and if yes is there a limit to how many times you can switch between the products?

    Afaik Yes it still works.

Afaik No, it shouldn't be a problem I think, but no one have asked this question before that I have seen, and I don't think anyone have counted how many times they have switched between them so I don't know, but how often you like I guess. I mean it's not like you would do it once a week right :D

Interesting, I tried that recently and it didn't work. It had in the past. I posted a topic on their forum and didn't get a definite response on it. It will play heavily in my decision to renew (or not) in March, considering how high their pricing is. More worth it if I can also use it for NOD32. Less so if not. :doubt:

Yes, ESS licence can be used to activate EAV. I believe that this is considered as "downgrade". I don't think that there is any limit. I've switched many times and have never had a problem.

Like hqsec, I have changed between Ess and Eav many times without any complication whatsoever. (also with version 7). Eset has not changed is license terms, last reviewed november 20, 2013, and in point 6 you can read, quote: •If you purchase a license for ESET Smart Security, you may use that license to download/install ESET NOD32 Antivirus. I can't imagine other, than if Eset change practice they will notified their users

    Regards Janus

Thanks for the info everyone and the licensing links, I will definitely purchase ESS.

Slightly off topic question. Evidently this is the first time I had heard that you could use an ESS license for Nod32 does anyone know if other security vendors offer the same kind of interchangeable licensing?

Yes, thanks for the links. It looks like I need to complain to someone that my license is not working properly and make someone fix it.

You're welcome, an issue ticket to ESET will get things rolling.

    Thanks, submitted. :thumb:

I received a reply already. I know I am not allowed to post the contents of that reply here but it basically stated that my license will only work for ESS and that a separate license will need to be purchased for NOD32. At the cost of $60 for a 3 user license I was willing to pay it in the past since it was usable for both. Since they now seem to be limiting me (and only me) to one product and I have been renewing for at least the last 8 years I expected better. I can get licenses for other top tier products for $25 or less. I guess this is the year I dump it unless they offer an incredibly better deal on the pricing.

Thanks @xxJackxx for your feedback and for letting us know that ESET's support was a positive one.

This is not true and it's also been confirmed by a colleague of mine from ESET, LLC that they don't have such a policy for ESS users. Please PM me the whole correspondence for investigation.
An ESET Smart Security / Endpoint Security license can be used to download and update ESET NOD32 Antivirus / Endpoint Antivirus.
