I am using Windows 8.1 Pro on a netbook. I usually connect to the net thru a wifi behind a router.

Is Windows Firewall enough? Or should I get ESET Smart Security to have a better firewall?

    Thanks.

Yes I would say that the Win firewall in 8.1 is enough. Afaik the Win Firewall from Vista and later is fine. But I use ESS not only for the firewall. And it's really up to you to decide if you go with ESS or NOD32, the fully functional 30 day trial is there for you to test them out :)

Well, thank you. I have always believed that Windows Firewall is enough too.

I don't need the Parental Control - I have K9 which is better.
Anti-Theft - I've got nothing to be stolen.

And, I have enabled HIPS-interactive mode and that would be enough

I am using ESET NOD32 7, with HIPS on INTERACTIVE mode.

I tried the Comodo Leak Tests, and I chose 'block' in every HIPS alert by ESET. I got a score of 300/340 - not bad :)

Since I'm not a high risk user I have left the HIPS in the default mode wich protects ESET itself plus some critical parts of the OS. As for the Anti-theft I have it disabled too but it would be useful if you would use a notebook that might get stolen for example when used outside your home. :)

But the Interactive Mode also does that, right? And even more.
