When upgrading ESET Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange Server v4.2.1.0012.0 to v4.2.1.0015.0. Can I just run the v4.2.1.0015.0 installer directly overtop of the existing install or do I need to uninstall v4.2.1.0012.0, reboot, install v4.2.1.0015.0 and reboot?

Uninstall the old V2 one first. Reboot. Install new v4.

Thanks for the reply. We attempted to uninstall ESET Mail Security for Exchange v4.2.10012.0 today and received an error message "Microsoft Exchange Server is not installed. Please install one of the supported mail servers first." which would not allow us to uninstall ESET Mail Security from the uninstaller or the Add/Remove Programs. The server is Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

We next decided to run the installer and install v4.2.10015.0 update over the top of the existing version. When we tried that we received a similar error message and could not install.

This looks like it is an issue caused by Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 that was released 3/4/2010. We just installed Rollup 2 the middle of last week. ESET Mail Security changelog shows that version 4.2.10014.0 fixed issues with Rollup 2.

"Fixed problem with detection of Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 version, after upgrade from Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. This also fixes problem with Rollup update 2 for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010"

Anyone else having troubles with rollup 2 and ESET Mail Security for Exchange? Do we need to remove Rollup 2, to be able to uninstall our current version of ESET Mail Security v4.2.10012.0?

FYI - We were able to fix this issue by uninstalling Exchange 2010 Rollup 2, which then allowed us to uninstall ESET Mail Security for Exchange v4.2.10012.0. We then installed Rollup 2 followed by ESET Mail Security v4.2.10015.0.

This is a known issue that was addressed in EMSX build 4.2.10014.0 (see this changelog).
