I just got the smart security - I've been using Eset AV for years and my old Online Armor FW was going to run out. Managing this firewall will drive me nuts. I've got it on training, but it's still letting stuff out without asking first. So far, what it has allowed is OK, but I have crap in printer software that I do not want connecting. Might be a few other programs that I'd rather not have in or out until I feel like it. What or how do you set this? OA asked about everything new. Thanks
The purpose of training mode is to allow all your apps including system processes outbound access. Once that is done, you switch to Interactive mode to receive alerts for anything not detected during the training period. Alternatively, you can switch to Interactive mode at anytime and start receiving alerts for anything for which an existing firewall rule does not apply. You can also just create manually any rules that will cover the printer software crap you wish to block outbound access. Personally, I gave up monitoring outbound access when I switched to Win 10. I just selectively create rules manually for any network or process access I want to monitor.
